Strengths and weaknesses
strength

I Feel that i have good equipment in my list of resources that brings me above all others with having a higher quality set of kit to be better then the rest without my skills even being a factor.

Another strength of mine in my resources is my contacts so far i feel that i have a good range of people to go to for advice or help in a project of path to go down, i have friends in media roles in the industry a steady supply of actor friends for film roles and lots of fellow film makers in my contacts i also have peers for advice like teachers, the BFI, professional film makers in higher roles all of these people have great experience and knowledge for my plans.

weakness

one of the weaknesses i have is my budget, i am in position of working full time to get the resources together for equipment, travel and living costs so my budget for films and further equipment or plans is limited for any projects.

one other weakness of my resources is my lack of film festival knowledge and experience  i have never been to a film festival or would not know where to start to get a film into the festival.

Overcoming my weaknesses
I will plan to work on getting a bigger budget by claiming more work hours and building a reserve and excess for film project budgets i will also look to get a better paying job within the media industry to get experience and good pay for a higher budget.

for my lack of knowledge i will attend a few film festivals this summer to get more knowledge in the events and meet and talk to event mangers in how to partake in the event.

flow diagram of plans

Flow diagram of plan from Chris Yarwood

with my skills of experience of film production and my high-end sound recording equipment i plan on going on a short term aim of building skills, knowledge and contacts through free lance projects and working at companies short term as a runner or assistant, for example working as a sound operator or technician at cambridge radio 105 for 5 months as a weekend volunteer helping with the broadcasts getting to know more about equipment and professional skills and the build more contacts for when i come back from traveling.

as a medium term plan i aim to apply for work straight with a media company building up through the ranks of the company from being a runner for the editors to becoming a sound editor assistant for a few years then moving to be a sound editor and then after becoming a sound editor i would move to the placement of a sound designer either for games, Television or Film.

as a long term plan i aim to apply to 5 different universities for further eduction either in Bournemouth, Norwich, Greenwich, St John York or westminster. during the 3 year course i wish to get more hands on experience on new equipment receive master classes in my wanted subject areas and work on projects that will enhance my skills and remove bad habits so when i pass my degree i have refined knowledge and skills to keep and make contacts for future projects then after university i plan to apply to the NFTS for even further training in sound recording and designing.
after this 7 year journey i will apply to the BBC for work as a runner or assistant on sound editing and apply at film studios like pinewood studios or studio canal also i plan to apply to ubisoft, treyarch and mojang to go down a gaming carrer as a assistant sound editor and work my way through the company.

inclusion of P3 and P2.

  • with my resources i hope to use them to my advantage, my car as a good way to travel to locations for short films or get to lots of work opportunities this will prove to be a high valued asset to get work.
  • The equipment of my resources will be used the most in the aims above, with my high-end kit i will be able to secure more work and short film roles then other people.
